I don’t know any other way to sum up my relatively short, fiction-writing career than to say, “I’m blessed.” That declaration doesn’t mean I’m breaking sales records or that I don’t have days when I question why I’m doing this. Writing is not an easy path, no matter how you do it. I’ve made mistakes, and I’ve had some wins. And every day I learn more about this crazy business, which seems to get crazier by the day.
The blessing in my journey is my readers. Since I published my first book in 2016, I’ve collected some loyal fans. You can read some of their comments on this website. Nothing makes me happier than talking to readers at signing, festivals, and events. And I love it when they reach out to me after reading one of my books. That connection is priceless.
I recently gave a presentation in which I talked about the fact that storytelling is in our DNA. I’m convinced that what connects me and my loyal readers is “story.” With each book, I have tried to bring closure in fiction where there was none in real life. And in the process, I tried to spin a good yarn. My readers seem to get that.
I am grateful. And I am blessed.
